ASUU Mobilizes Members For Nationwide Strike Over Fuel Price Hike 2016


Report reaching us has it that the Academic
Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called on
its members to embarked on a nationwide strike
to demand the reversion of the fuel price from
N145 to N86.
This was contained in a letter titled “Increase in
price of Premium Motor Spirit to N145 perlitre:
Proposal for
Joint Action with NLC” which was sent to the
members of the union nationwide by the
president of ASUU, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi.
Excerpts of the letter read, “ASUU members are
called upon to according to our Union’s
principles, to fully respect Article 2 of the
Constitution of ASUU; that our Union
and members shall work for the protection and
advancement of the socio-economic interests of
the nation.
Branch Chairpersons are to conduct emergency
meetings on Tuesday 17 May 2016 to mobilise
members for the action commencing on
Wednesday. All
branches of ASUU nationwide are to comply”
